MOVIE REVIEW: ‘BLACK PANTHER’ THE SUPERHERO WE ALL NEED

The very first thing I thought after watching Black Panther was, why hasn’t a movie like this been created in America until now? It’s about time! Oh and Batman would be jealous. ?

Hailing from the secretive fictional African country of Wakanda a land full of vast resources, wealth and technology, “Black Panther” has just become a one billion dollar hit and has broken box office records since its Feb. 16 release. We are told a tale of a powerful, yet hidden nation with a king fighting to keep his throne at all costs. His struggle and survival begin when T’Challa’s long-lost cousin Erik Killmonger comes to claim the kingdom as his own and wage war with the rest of humanity to recognize Wakanda as the supreme nation of the world.

The official synopsis from Marvel offers more context:

Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king.

But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.

It was great to see a cast of kick-ass females taking leading roles and a superhero that wants to not only save his nation but the whole world.
